This was from my hotel the first morning on the first trip. Traffic in Tokyo was amazingly light, thanks in part to how expensive cars are. Public transportation can be famously crowded though.
The hotels are excellent, and less expensive than, say, New York City. I stayed in Daiwa Roynet hotels on several occasions. All had kitchenettes, and at least one actually had a washing machine in the room! They were about $250 for a single, which was plenty big enough.
