Here’s Waikiki beach from the ground. The distinctive mountain in the distance on both pictures is Diamond Head, a very large extinct volcano known as a “volcanic tuff cone”. The reference to diamonds supposedly resulted from the mistaken belief that calcite crystals found on the beach were diamonds. It’s possible to climb Diamond Head, but I didn’t try.
