After all that, I headed back toward Honolulu by going straight through the center of the island. This area has (or had) major pineapple plantations and large land holdings of the Dole company.

This Dole visitor center was there, but most of the attractions seemed to require a fee to enter, which didn’t seem right to me, but your mileage may vary.
