This beautiful formal rose garden is located within the Parc de Bagatelle, itself located within the much larger Bois de Boulogne on the west side of central Paris. It is very much worth a visit, but would be a very long walk from downtown! Take the Metro to Ranelagh station, and add a visit to the Musee Marmatton Monet as you walk to the Garden. This museum, also off the beaten track, has a large collection of Monet paintings, including his work “Impression, Sunrise”, generally considered to be the origin of the term “Impressionism”!
The Bois de Boulogne is huge, over one mile by two miles in extent. You will need to be a serious walker, or you can rent bikes from the Velo stands in the city.
